You are invited to the Wheatland Kings 2016 Spring Camp April 29, 30, May 1
We are excited to have a great group of instructors. Dan Macdonald and Doug Raycroft will be leading the camp. Both are very experienced and successful coaches, and have coached high levels of hockey for many years. The camp will be high energy and based on conditioning and skills to prep players for upcoming camps. Your off-ice portion will be run by Steve Stovka who is excellent in his field training many high level athletes in the off season.
The Wheatland Kings play in the Heritage Junior B hockey league. There is a 38 game schedule, not including preseason games and playoffs. The league includes many former WHL and AJHL Junior A players. Players with the Kings are able to balance work, or school, with hockey. The schedule includes two (mid-evening) practices per week, one dryland (session with the trainer) per week, with the majority of (the regular season) games held on weekends.
The Heritage Junior Hockey League is scouted by many of the Junior teams in the Alberta and Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Surprisingly there are 7 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Teams in the immediate area and 4 Western Hockey League (WHL) teams. What a wonderful chance to get noticed! The Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) and specifically, the Wheatland Kings, charged a (nominal) $700 registration fee for the 2015 season to play as opposed to a $2500 fee plus room and board charged by other leagues surrounding the HJHL. Releases from other leagues are often difficult because of signed contracts. The HJHL does not allow trades or the signing of contracts.
The Wheat Land Kings would love to have you attend our camps (and see what the program and its members are all about). Don't be shy!! Take the first steps to becoming a King. Coaching staff is composed of experienced coaches having played or participated at a high level of the game. You are encouraged to view their profiles on the Kings website.
Register, pay on line, and you will be contacted with ice times approximately one week prior to camp. Ice times are 6:30 - 9:45 PM each day. Your session will be assigned after registration closes. Please ensure you have your Permission to Skate forms with you - of which permission is obtained through your applicable association: http://www.hockeyalberta.ca/uploads/source/Conditioning%20Camp%20Permission.pdf ** Registrations will close one week prior to the camp start date.**
Located 20 minutes east of Calgary, the community of Strathmore is very passionate about their numerous hockey teams. Expect tremendous fan support both on and off the ice. The Kings are active throughout the community and often help with on-ice support for the numerous minor hockey teams. The Kings organization prides itself on consistency and teamwork.
This is an exciting opportunity - we look forward to seeing you in April!!
