It was a tough weekend for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings, as the group struggled to generate offence through a pair of challenging matchups.
Friday night at the Fortress, the Kings were shut out 3–0 by the Okotoks Bisons in a defensive battle that offered few clean looks at goal. The following night in Medicine Hat, the Kings couldn’t quite find their rhythm, falling 5–1 to the Cubs — marking their first loss at the Kinplex since last season’s playoffs.
Evan Dean provided the Kings’ lone goal of the weekend, while goaltender Connor White made his return from injury on Saturday, stopping 39 of 44 shots in his first game back between the pipes.
The Kings look to regroup with a pair of home matchups this coming weekend, starting with the South Division–leading Coaldale Copperheads on Halloween night, set to be the biggest Halloween party in Strathmore. Fans can enjoy free entry with a costume and $5 cans of Select Origin beer.
The weekend continues Saturday as the Kings host the High River Flyers in a special night at the Family Centre, as the franchise honours former captain Ryan Grasdahl and raises his number 4 to the rafters.
