104.5 King of The Week: Evan McNair

Evan McNair has been crowned Fuel House’s King of the Week.

After goaltender Connor White was taken off the ice following a lower-body injury on Oct. 17 in a game against the Okotoks Bisons, McNair was called mid-game to take his place, stopping all eight shots made against him.

The following night, the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings faced off against the Medicine Hat Cubs, which led to a 6-3 win in favour of the Kings. Throughout the game, McNair stopped 42 shots.

McNair, a fan of the Calgary Flames, spoke about some of the advice he’d received from his coaches over the years.

“The best advice was about how I tie my pads,” said McNair. “Changing from bungees to laces really helped out a lot.”

The first-year junior goalie said that if he could play alongside any NHL player, it would be Jacob Markstrom.

As for a go-to hype song before a game, McNair has no preference – he just listens to what the team has playing.

The Kings will return to Strathmore for a game against the Okotoks Bisons on Friday at the Strathmore Family Centre.
