Wheatland Kings Start the Year Outdoors

Wheatland Kings Ring in the New Year with Community ODR Skate

With the indoor rink closed for the holiday, the Wheatland Kings found another way to get on the ice, heading outdoors to spend time at a local outdoor rink alongside members of the community.

Players grabbed their sticks, laced up, and enjoyed a relaxed skate that focused less on structure and more on connection. Kids from the community joined in, sharing the ice, taking shots, and spending time with Kings players in an environment that felt true to the roots of the game.

“It was a great way to start the new year,” said Kings GM Cody Holdaway. “Hockey at its core is about community, and the outdoor rink is where a lot of that love for the game begins.”

The ODR skate served as a reminder of what the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings represent beyond game nights, being present, approachable, and connected to the community that supports them all season long.

As the calendar turns to a new year, the Kings look forward to continued growth on and off the ice, while finding more opportunities to give back and stay connected to the community that makes Wheatland hockey special.
