The Wheatland Kings are proud to announce the signing of 2008-born forward Johnny Babkirk for the 2026–27 Heritage Junior Hockey League season.
A native of Okotoks, Alberta, Babkirk joins the Kings after spending last season as an Affiliate Player with the organization, gaining valuable junior hockey experience and making the most of his opportunities in a Kings jersey.
During his time with the Kings, Babkirk proved he could compete at the junior level, producing at a point-per-game pace while showcasing his offensive ability, hockey sense and competitive style of play.
That performance has earned Babkirk the opportunity to make the jump to the Kings full-time for the upcoming season.
The signing continues the Wheatland Kings’ commitment to developing young talent and providing players with a pathway to junior hockey. Babkirk’s progression from an Affiliate Player to a full-time member of the Kings is a reflection of the work he has put into his development.
The Kings are excited to see what Babkirk can bring to the lineup as he takes the next step in his junior hockey career.
