Wheatland Kings Name Garret Vander Ploeg Assistant Coach
The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings are proud to announce the appointment of Garret Vander Ploeg as an Assistant Coach with the organization.
Vander Ploeg returns to the Kings after an outstanding playing career with the franchise from 2017 to 2022. During his time in Wheatland, Garret established himself as one of the most accomplished players in franchise history and remains one of the greatest players to ever wear a Wheatland Kings jersey.
Vander Ploeg currently holds the franchise’s all-time records for most points, most goals, and most games played. He also sits second in franchise history for all-time assists, a record currently held by current King Charlie Goll.
During his 146 career games with the Kings, Vander Ploeg recorded 138 points, including 72 assists. His accomplishments are even more impressive considering his 2020–21 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, Vander Ploeg will bring that experience and knowledge back to the organization from behind the bench as the Kings continue to build toward the upcoming season.

For Vander Ploeg, the appointment marks a return to the organization where he made his mark as a player and became one of the most recognizable names in franchise history.
