What a weekend it was for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings — three games, three wins, and a statement made across the Heritage Junior Hockey League South Division.
The road swing opened Friday night in Okotoks, where the Kings came out firing and never looked back in a dominant 5-2 victory over the Bisons. Assistant Captain Luke Nottveit was unstoppable, recording his first hat trick of the season. Captain Cole Tweit found the back of the net as well, while Charlie Goll added a goal and an assist to help pace the Kings’ offense in their first matchup of the weekend.
The momentum carried straight into Saturday in Coaldale. After a long bus ride, the Kings kept the energy high, skating to a 4-2 win over the Copperheads. Goll and Tweit extended their point streaks, while Trey Kam added a crucial goal to help the Kings lock up back-to-back victories.
By Sunday morning, the team was back on the road — this time north to Rocky Mountain House — and they saved their best for last. Strathmore exploded for a 6-2 win over the Rams, powered once again by Luke Nottveit, who notched his second hat trick of the weekend. The Kings dominated all three zones, outskating, outworking, and outshooting their opponents to complete a clean weekend sweep.
After three convincing wins, the Kings now sit atop the South Division standings, while Adam Moore leads the entire HJHL in assists. Nottveit’s six-goal weekend also propels him to the top of the league’s goal-scoring charts.
Kings GM Cody Holdaway credited the team’s resilience and chemistry for the big weekend. “It’s great to see the boys string wins together like that — the effort, the focus, and the confidence are all coming together,” said Holdaway. “Now we just have to keep that momentum rolling.”
The Kings will look to do exactly that this weekend when they return home to host the reigning HJHL champions for a single-game showdown before Thanksgiving. Puck drop is set for 7:45 p.m. at the Strathmore Family Centre.
